Poem: Exhaustion Remembering

Exhaustion
remembering

My muscles
last night
my head still holding
some ache
powder-tongue
and sticky-eyes

the dreams have lingered too
so I am both older and younger
heavier and lighter
crawling like a baby
whimpering like an old man

I will need a crane to lift me today
so it may as well be a poem
reach for you
(I address my books as loved ones now)

how funny you are
as I gather you back into bed with you
